Hudson Valley New York - Civil War Volunteers

One cemetery at a time we will get all of the right people involved to make a difference. A positive change for the better can only inspire us to do more and encourage us to be pro-active in our communities. This site will update the members and the community when and where an event will take place and how you the volunteer can help. We can and will accomplish the task of cleaning up and documenting all of the old burial grounds and final resting spots our of patriots and volunteers. I thank you all for your interest and continued support, together we can achieve anything!

We will be at the Old Ellenville Cemetery every Saturday (weather permitting) 9:00 AM til Noon until Memorial Day Weekend. If you are interested in helping out we would welcome you and your friends. We will be removing leaf litter and debris then locating the stones and cleaning the ones that will allow. Some are old and broken and we will document those and look for rehabilitation methods perscribed for each type of stone. A list will be available for research and anyone interested in documenting or " adopting a soldier " may do so with the tools available at the Ellenville Public Library and Museum. We hold one of the largest depositories of obituaries in the area. Additionally, we have the Ellenville Journal on microfilm dating as far back as 1849, not all complete but many to explore. Please join us if you can and pass the word along. Once we get done here we will be moving on to the others, which I will provide the list for as well. Thank you and see you in the Cemetery.
